VALR Consulting

You can't answer the phone from up a ladder.

So we set up something that does. It answers your calls and texts, writes up your quotes, and chases the jobs that went quiet — while you get on with the work you're actually paid for.

A missed call, handled

Tuesday evening, while you're finishing a bathroom

6:42pm
Call comes in. You're on site with your hands full.
6:42pm
It gets answered. Name, address, what needs doing, how soon.
6:43pm
She gets a text with your next three open slots.
7:10pm
Booked for Thursday, 9am. It's on your calendar.

An example, not a real customer — but it's the exact job we set up first for most people.

What we do

Four jobs that quietly cost you money every week.

We don't sell software. We pick the one thing leaking the most work, set it up properly, and prove it on your real jobs before we talk about anything else.

Answering and booking

Every call, text, and web enquiry answered within a minute, evenings and weekends included. The details get written down properly, and the job lands on your calendar instead of in a voicemail you'll listen to on Sunday.

Quotes and paperwork

Estimates drafted from your site notes, photos, and your own price list — ready for you to check over and send the same day, not next weekend at the kitchen table.

Follow-up that never happens

Quotes that went quiet get a polite nudge a few days later. Past customers hear from you when it's the right time of year. Nobody has to remember to do it.

Reviews and the weekly numbers

A review request goes out after every finished job. Unpaid invoices get chased. And you get a short plain-English summary of the week's enquiries, quotes, and wins.

How it works

Three steps, about four weeks, no long contract.

Each step ends with something useful in your hands, whether or not you carry on to the next one.

01

We have a look

A conversation and a couple of hours going through how enquiries actually reach you and where they get dropped. You get the write-up either way, even if you decide not to go ahead.

02

We set one thing up

The one that's costing you the most, built around how you already work. You watch it handle real enquiries before we scope anything else or send an invoice for the next piece.

03

We hand it over

Written instructions, someone watching that it keeps working, and a clear way to reach a human when something's off. You own the accounts and the logins. Staying on with us is optional.

Case studies

What it looks like when someone does this properly.

Three firms in trades and renovation that went back to the leads and quotes they'd given up on. None of them are our clients yet — these are published results from other people setting up the same job, linked so you can read them yourself.

Roofing · 773 old leads · one month

$53k

in booked jobs, from leads they'd written off

The problem
773 enquiries that had gone quiet — people who asked for a price, got a call or two, and were never heard from again. Nobody had the time to go back through them.
What was set up
A text conversation, run automatically, to every one of them. It asked what they still needed doing, checked the details, and offered a booking link. A person took over the moment someone replied.
What changed
124 replied. 12 booked an appointment. Two turned into roofs worth $53,000, with another $25,000 quoting. The first month's profit covered the year's cost of running it.

Windows, siding & roofing · Michigan · 8 months

$3.5m

from old leads, at a 46% close rate

The problem
C&L Ward, a 53-year-old family firm doing $44m a year, was spending more and more on marketing while a pile of past quotes and enquiries sat untouched. Rehash revenue before this: nothing.
What was set up
One trained person, calls plus automated texts, working through the old list every day from May to December. Not new software — a job that finally had someone's name on it.
What changed
$3.5m in sales from leads they already owned. Nearly half the appointments it booked closed. Their best month from it alone was $520,000.

Bath remodelling · New Jersey & Pennsylvania · 7 months

25% → 52%

of enquiries turned into a booked appointment

The problem
Luxury Bath was buying leads from a dozen sites and reaching fewer than one in ten of them. Their calls were getting flagged as spam, and confirming the next day's appointments ate two hours every morning.
What was set up
Texts and emails that answer every new enquiry within a minute, chase the quotes that went quiet, and confirm appointments — plus a phone line that picks up when the office is full.
What changed
Booking rate doubled. Contact rate on bought leads went from 8–10% to 20%. Confirmations dropped to half an hour. They put $4m of revenue down to it.

Published by Hatch, whose software they use. Marketing director Stephanie Bradley: "overbooked for 3 weeks straight, never happened in 5 years here." Read the write-up

Two of these used a team and a bigger budget than most firms we talk to; the roofing one is closest to what we set up first. When we've done it for you, your numbers go here — from your own call logs and calendar, the same way.

Who we work with

Right now, mostly contractors and home renovation firms.

That's where we're spending our time — trades and renovation businesses where the phone ringing at the wrong moment costs you a real job, and where the quote you didn't get to on Sunday goes to whoever answered first.

The same few problems turn up in any business that runs on appointments and follow-up. If you're a clinic, a med spa, a recruiting agency, or anything shaped like that, get in touch anyway and we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right fit yet.

What we promise

The bits worth pinning us down on.

Tell us the one job you'd hand over tomorrow.

A couple of sentences about what it is and roughly how much of your week it eats. We'll tell you whether it's worth automating — including when the honest answer is that it isn't.
